We are seeking an experienced and dynamic systems engineer to join a dedicated team providing operational, development and maintenance support for a new large scale data storage and preservation facility based at UCL’s Bloomsbury campus. This role will involve designing, implementing and developing a systems integration and feature layer to guide a beta-to-production transition of a number of services. You will be a key part of a diverse project team and proactively engage stakeholders and users from across the university and partner organisations to assure the Service is fit for purpose.
UCL Research Data Services will play a key role in enabling researchers to effectively manage and exploit the massive amounts of data being generated by research communities.
The successful candidate will need to draw upon extensive, current and practical systems development experience in large-scale data storage or high performance computing environments and development operations, including networking. The successful candidate will also be an excellent communicator with a strong customer focus and practical problem solving ability in networking, virtual server environments and maintain a contemporary knowledge base. The role will be required to take responsibility as part of a team and be prepared to make and record important technical decisions in complex environments while maintaining a strategic view on service delivery.
